How to add spice to your relationship

We all know it's pumpkin spice season but many couples find their relationships resembling a cup of Earl Grey more than anything that contains spice. With the year(s) we have had, it's no wonder! Most of us are operating in deficiency mode where we make it through the day and then fall into bed exhausted. But spice IS an important ingredient for a happy healthy relationship; with just a little effort, you can easily add it in. If you are struggling to find ways to spice up your relationship here are some suggestions:

Spice up a grey routine

  • Get a new outfit. Obviously, this is our favorite. Finding an outfit that looks and feels amazing is an instant confidence booster and you will be eager to show it off. We make it easy, if you come into the store we will help as much as you would like us to. If the idea of lingerie shopping is overwhelming we will stick you in a dressing room and bring our suggested items to you, you don't even have to think about it. You can also come shopping with your partner, we even have a sitting area for them. No time to shop in person? We offer online shopping as well as curbside pickup and shipping!

  • Skin to skin. This doesn't necessarily mean sex. Although that is up to you and your partner. The skin on skin contact from a hug, massage or just holding hands induces oxytocin, the “bonding hormone”, which can be a potent way to support your health, from lowering your cortisol levels, blood pressure, and heart rate to boosting your immune system and even giving you pain relief. Cuddling has been called a miracle drug!

  • Take care of possible medical needs. If it has been a while since your last Drs visit it might be a good time to go and get an overall check. Things like hormones, blood pressure, and vitamin deficiencies can affect your overall spicey-ness.

  • Try something new. Trying something new whether it is a food, position, location or activity can be exciting and creates a bonding experience since you are both experiencing it for the first time.

  • Schedule a staycation. A lot of times the power of a staycation gets overlooked but if you are a busy couple and find it hard to schedule vacations or even just uninterrupted time to relax then a staycation may be for you. It takes little planning and a smaller budget to do a staycation and it can reap all the benefits of a vacation.

Create a safe place for intimacy

Intimacy can be a loaded word. In today's society, it seems to be synonymous with sex and the physical act of being intimate. But intimacy is not just about sex—it's also about being close to someone and opening up on an emotional level. It means sharing yourself with another person in ways that are vulnerable and exposing. That can take many forms: talking about feelings, having a heart-to-heart talk before bed or during breakfast over coffee, watching movies together, cooking for each other... there are so many opportunities for intimacy!

Spice it up and have fun!

There are many ways to spice up your life. The most important thing is that you have fun! It's important to be safe and healthy when you do this, but also open and honest with your partner about what turns you on. You may want to talk to them about it first and then go from there, even that conversation can add a little spice.
